Kindness, caring and compassion is what our Zaksee Parrot Sanctuary is all about. We are here for parrots that really need a loving home. We have a safe haven for parrots that can live the remainder of their days in a loving environment. Our aviaries are extremely spacious which allows our parrots to fly freely and use those big beautiful wings extensively.
Zaksee Parrot Sanctuary was established for one reason only, to “provides a loving home for parrots that truly need us”. Zaksee Parrot Sanctuary is located on well over 200,000 square feet, surrounded by rolling streams of fresh water and luscious greenery. The ambiance of our sanctuary is breath taking. Each and every bird on this property receives our undivided attention.
We are not about numbers but all about providing each parrot the attention they so desperately deserve. We do have an extensive waiting list, however, those parrots requiring our immediate attention, we will truly try to accommodate.
Parrots are one of the most popular “pet” animals in the US as well as among the most long-lived. If birds are to avoid the fate of six million cats and dogs annually, the avian community must support the newly established Avian Welfare organizations. In the forests, they are in control of their surroundings.
To insure a safety net for birds, especially as the “baby boomers” become unable to continue care for their animals, the Veterinary community’s help is required. Parrots are wild birds. In captivity, they are helpless to determine whether their environment is safe for them to live in. Its our responsibility as their owners to make sure of that. We have to situate them in a place where they can live and grow happily and healthily with no threat to their well-being. Our pet parrots safety, is therefore our concern and responsibility.
Due to the substantial increase in the number of birds needing help, and the shortage of rescue and foster homes, Zaksee Florida Bird Rescue And Sanctuary saw the need to start its exotic bird rescue and sanctuary, so we can accept certain bird species into our organization. We are very happy to start this program as we find this situation appalling. It has us very hopeful to save some birds. There are so many birds out there in need of a home at this time and we think that this situation is most likely due to our current economic climate, causing more owners to have to surrender their pets and over population of Exotic birds and it also means that we have fewer resources as well ..
